Labour Market Barometer 2025

We have evaluated our labour market data from the whole of last year 2024 and provided the new statistics. This barometer is based on information from 2,738 people affected by redundancies and from 340 companies from various sectors that had to make redundancies in Switzerland in 2024.

After two years of strong growth in 2021 and 2022, the economy and therefore the labour shortage had already calmed down again by 2023. The entire last year of 2024 was then characterised by numerous consolidation measures across all sectors. Not only was overcapacity reduced, but existing structures were also optimised and realigned. As a result, we are currently not only seeing more redundancies, but also more new hires. Fluctuation and momentum have normalised again.

Pascal Scheiwiller, CEO of von Rundstedt, comments: ‘For the first time since Covid, the labour market appears to be back in a healthy balance. However, familiar structural patterns are also becoming more apparent again. Salary increases are having a harder time again in Switzerland, and older workers over the age of 50 are once again finding it more difficult to find a job than in previous years.’ This trend looks set to continue in 2025.
